Welcome back ladies! As many of you know, my husband plays professional baseball. As a result, this means our lifestyle is completely consumed by the sport. We live in different places for spring training, the season, and the offseason. Spring training is quickly approaching (we leave next weekend!) and we’re starting to get excited about the upcoming season.

Spring Training: Jimmy Nelson pitching
Hubby doing his thing

Jimmy is a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers and their spring training facility is in Phoenix, AZ. Phoenix is one of my favorite places to go. It’s absolutely amazing! The scenery is stunning, the hiking is amazing, and don’t get me started on the FOOD! Seriously, it has some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. That being said, spring training is typically a really stressful time for a baseball player. Once the games start, their days are often 10-12 hours long and the heat is exhausting. I always feel a little guilty going into spring training because I’m so excited to explore Phoenix, but all Jimmy can think about is the grueling weeks ahead.

For this reason, I always do more on the home front to make sure Jimmy doesn’t have anything taking away his focus. I cook us dinner 5-6 nights a week, keep healthy snacks on hand, and try to make everything as protein filled as possible. You probably already know I cook a lot if you follow me on instagram. Make sure to follow me if you want to see all my adventures!

Whether it’s for spring training, the season, or the offseason, we always rent furnished places. We would love to buy our own place, but we’re just not ready yet. It’s easy right now to just pack what fits in our cars and unpack when we get there. It’s also nice not to have a mortgage payment while having to pay rent for 8 months out of the year. It’s not always easy to find a place, but I’m pretty excited about the cute apartment we rented for spring training. I’ll be sure to show you guys the new place when we get settled in!

Lastly, I think the biggest reason I look forward to spring training is because I get to see all my girlfriends again! Everyone lives in different places for the offseason so we don’t get to see each other for about 5 months. We spend so much time together during the season so everyone gets pretty close. Also, with baseball, trades and releases happen all the time. Every season brings a new batch of girls. This is particularly true for the Brewers. We’re still in rebuilding mode so they’re making a ton of player moves. Half of the MLB teams have spring training in Arizona and the other half go to Florida so if a friend has been traded, it’s a 50/50 chance they’ll still be in Arizona! Spring training is also the chance to meet any new girls. Last year we did a big team brunch for all the girls to meet each other. It went so well I think we’ll do it again this year!

That’s all for today! As the season progresses I’ll do a lot more baseball updates. Hope you enjoyed this post!
